The manuscripts are first examined by the secretariat for plagiarism. Authors are noticed when their articles’ plagiarism detection report is problematic.
The manuscripts that are found appropriate in the preliminary evaluation will be sent to field editors. The articles which are not in the scope of the journal, written in a poor language, include scientific errors and/or do not meet the publication standards of the journal will be rejected. In this case, authors will be noticed within a month. The manuscripts that are found appropriate are sent to two referees in the related field anonymously to be reviewed.
Double-Blind Peer Review Process
The manuscripts that are found appropriate are sent to at least two referees in the related field anonymously to be reviewed. A double-blind peer review system is adopted; reviewer is unaware of the identity of the author, and the author is also unaware of the identity of the reviewer. Under the equivalence of the positive and negative reviews, the opinion of the editorial board is taken or the manuscript is sent to a third referee.
Manuscripts are sent to the appropriate referees according to their content. The field editor suggests at least two referees from the pool of referees of Journal of Measurement and Evaluation in Education and Psychology according to their field of expertise or may propose a new referee appropriate for the field of study. These suggestions are evaluated by the Editors and manuscripts are sent to the referees. Referees are obligated not to share any information and/or documents related to review process to anyone.
Referees are given 4 weeks to review. Revisions of referees or editors must be completed by the authors within 1 month. Referees can review the authors’ revisions and if necessary, may request multiple revisions. The full text should also be sent in English after they have been accepted in Turkish. Articles not submitted in full English will not be published.
Language Editors’ Review
Articles are sent to English Language Editors after peer review process completed. Submissions must be of a simple, clear and fluent language. Language editors may request language editing during the evaluation process. The author (s) will be given a month for revisions. Articles that are not corrected within this period will be rejected. This process can be repeated according to the language editors’ evaluation.
It is recommended non-English authors (s) to receive professional support for English proofreading before uploading their work.
Based on the review done by the field editor and reviewers, editors report the views of the editorial board to the author(s) in two weeks along with the suggestions made by the field editor and reviewers. In this process, the studies that are not accepted for publication are returned. Accepted manuscripts move on to layout arrangement.
How long does the Publication Review Process last?
It is anticipated that the publication review process of the studies submitted to Journal of Measurement and Evaluation in Education be completed approximately 6 months. The period during which editors or reviewers ask the author(s) to do editing and the author(s) complete the editing is not included in this time frame
